Customers have had a chance to submit weights, and follow the VGM process since this rule went into effect in July 2016. This letter is to remind you, our valued customer, the second portion of this rule will go into effect on August 12, 2016.

WESTBOUND and EASTBOUND — Exports and Imports from/to North America:

SUBMISSION OF VERIFIED GROSS MASS (VGM) BY SHIPPER

Under SOLAS requirements, it is the Shipper's responsibility to obtain and transmit the required VGM data for a packed container to the Ocean Carrier. Once the Shipper has provided the required VGM details to WSL by the specified ship VGM cut-off date, the Shipper's responsibility is complete.

Effective August 12, 2016, failure to supply required information by the VGM cut-off will result in a $200 PC charge and will result in containers not being loaded to the vessel.

In addition, Shipper's shall be liable for any fine, penalty, or other sanction imposed upon the Carrier, its agents, or motor carriers performing transportation service moving under this tariff or service contract for any violation of VGM.
